Kyle & Elizabeth`s Country Bliss

I never posted this wedding, but it was so simply beautiful and very close to my heart! I had the privilege of photographing my cousin Elizabeth's wedding. We met up downtown at James Brett for hair, and then made our way back to my Aunt Johanne and Uncle Charlie's house in Tamworth to have the girl's makeup done and get dressed. There is something so inviting about country living. As we stopped for coffee and gas on the way back, everyone knew Elizabeth, knew about the wedding, congratulated her. There is something wonderful about knowing everyone and having everyone know you in the little town where you live. We were welcomed back to the house with an amazing spread of sandwiches, snacks, treats, and drinks. It was a warm September day, with the windows open and a breeze drifting through the house, mingled with country music coming from the radio. The girls bustled around, taking turns at the makeup table, snacking, and giggling a lot.

Elizabeth married her finance Kyle, in the Old Hay Bay Church on a beautiful September afternoon. It was the same church where Kyle's parents were married at. The ceremony went smoothly, and had such a warm and inviting feel. There were so many special, little details which tied everything together. The bridal party was transported from the church to Kyle's parent's house by a horse and buggy. The kids at the wedding were so excited at the sight of the horses! The Mack's opened up their farmhouse to the Elizabeth and Kyle's wedding guests for drinks and appetizers, while we used it as a backdrop for their photos.

From the stunning colour of the bridesmaid's dresses, to the fact that the groomsmen wore casual shirts, jeans, and fancy belt buckles, everything fit together so nicely. It was one of those weddings where you feel right at home, and genuinely have a great time while photographing. You could feel the happiness and love that everyone had for Liz and Kyle, and it was a great party after everything was said and done! Congrats Liz and Kyle!

Wonderfully Windy

Well John, Becky and Brynn win the award for persevering through the windiest session that I've ever had. I was so excited about this great little location that I'd discovered, but hadn't had a chance to use. There was the most amazing fallen down tree, that was perfect for a bench, the trees were brilliant shades of yellow, red, and orange, and there were many stumps, rocks, and other interesting things scattered all around. Well, the sun was shining (which it hasn't been lately), the sky was blue, but the wind was whipping around. We met by the "tree bench", snapped a few, and then decided to explore deeper into the brush, in a hope of finding relief from the strong winds. As we explored the area, we came across a winding path that led to a beautiful open field, that was sheltered from the winds, and everything worked out.

Thanks again John, Becky & Brynn for being up for anything!

Fall Friends

These two little men are very good friends of my own little ones. They have been friends since they were born, and always have a good time when we get together. Reed and Graham and 100% boy. They love hockey, swords, the outdoors, the colour orange, and monster trucks. I was happy to be able to capture a couple of pictures for their mom:)

Five Minutes

Five minutes is just about the time limit that I can squeeze out of my boys to have their picture taken. Grant really wanted to pick apples this year, but we were having a hard time finding an opportunity on the weekends to go. One school night, after dinner, we hopped in the car and headed towards Picton, crossing our fingers that one of the orchards would be open. They weren`t, the boys were disappointed, so we settled on going for milkshakes instead. It was such a beautiful evening, that I convinced the boys (I think that the milkshakes helped) to stop at a boat launch on the way back to town, and shoot a few photos before the sun disappeared. All I want is one, one shot of the two of them together that I love, then I`m a happy mama:)

A sample of what I usually get from my silly boys!
