Oh Canada!

We are pretty lucky to live in such a great country. When I was in university Canada Day was all about making your way to Ottawa to enjoy the festivities on parliament hill, and then dancing away the night at some local pub. My Canada Day festivities have changed over the past few years, and now (at Grant's request) we have a family bbq at our place. This year was great! Grandma & Grandpa, Mèmere & Poppa, Uncle Tim & Auntie Kat and Uncle Luke all came out for lots of food, swimming and some silly shenanigans (mainly involving the boys and the bounce castle). July 1st was another "Happy Canada Day!"

Here is a little video of the Dowker Boys having some Canada Day fun!

A photo of Uncle Tim, courtesy of the Maxer, pretty good (but I'm a little biased).

Miss Caitie Turns Two!

It is such an honour when families revisit you time after time. I've had the pleasure of photographing little Caitlin since she was just seven days old. It has been so special to watch her grow as she has visited my studio over the past two years. Caitie is just so adored by her parents Catherine and Sean. Now Caitie is an energetic, sweet, and beautiful little toddler who is ready to explore everything! Happy birthday sweet girl:) I look forward to meeting again soon.

Kindergarten Graduate

For some reason "kindergarten" sounds so little. I picture playing, crafting, circle time, routines, cuddles and lots of giggles. In my mind it is safe, secure and innocent. Grade 1 seems so grown up, it's full days, a new teacher, and a different playground with lots of "big" kids! Well, I now have a kindy graduate and a soon-to-be grade 1 boy. Grant has thrived in kindergarten and he has changed so much from the beginning of being a junior to a senior. He couldn't wait to go to school each day! Here is Grant as a "kindergartener" in a nutshell...

Junior Grant
- made many new friends at school
- loved Bob the Builder
- got his first black eye
- went to Florida
- had the chicken pox
- learned to ride his bike
- loved to fish at the cottage
- became obsessed with Toy Story
- learned to swim

Senior Grant
- learned to read
- joined a basketball league and piano lessons
- became the proud owner of Smokey the hamster
- loved Transformers and Beyblades
- his favourite thing to do at school was computers and playing
- loved playing Super Mario Bros. on his wii
- started golf lessons

I am looking forward to our summer vacation being filled with swimming in our pool, lazy days playing at home, cottage visits, and spending lots of time with our friends and family! I'll have the next couple of months to wrap my mind around that fact that I will have a son in grade 1!

Tim & Kat are Engaged!

I am so lucky to have such a great extended family. I always wanted a brother growing up, and now I have five brother-in-laws! Tim and Kat are such a sweet couple. They are so much fun to be around and there is always tons of laughter too. They can be silly, poke fun at themselves, but most importantly they are always there for their family. I am so happy for you guys and I can't wait for your destination wedding in January!

I hope that you enjoy your engagement photos. I had a great time exploring Kingston with you guys last Wednesday night.

Jeff & Flora Tie the Knot

Saturday was a day that started out looking pretty gloomy, but in the end the weather turned out beautiful. Jeff and Flora were married on June 4th at the Four Points by Sheraton. Flora and I connected through Tina, her wedding planner (click here for Tina`s site) in the early planning stages. I have corresponded with Flora for months now through email, and it was so nice to finally be able to put a face with a name. Flora and Jeff live in Houston, Texas but decided to get married close to his family, here in Kingston.

The wedding was perfectly simple and elegant. From the flowers, to the cake, to the table setting, it was flawless. We had a great time walking through downtown Kingston, stopping to take advantage of all of the beautiful aspects that the city has to offer. From Confederation Park, to the limestone alley by the Toucan, to City Hall, we saw it all! Flora and Jeff were delightful to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed photographing their special day.

Here is your sneak peak of your wedding pictures, I hope that you enjoy!
